For our prototype, we would like to connect components directly via wires instead of using the breadboard. Is it permitted to solder components of the electronics kit?
Yes, but consider using jumper-wires for that first. (the small cables with connectors)
If you damage the components (and you most likely will if you solder them), you must pay for new components (you can see the costs of the components from the checklist, click the cart-icon).
You can also borrow smaller sized breadboards from me if that is an option.
