As soon as I upload the sketch to Arduino and run it on the system monitor. I get this. It further has a burning smell to it!

Then I would disconnect the USB cable as fast as possible!! Then try to identify what component was burning/smelling.

Then double or triple check the wiring, as there must be something wrong. High chance it is the temperature sensor that is defective now.

The output on the Serial Monitor suggests a problem with communicating with the sensor (which is logical if there is a wiring problem or if the sensor is defective)

  • I had the same problem. In my case it was the DHT11 sensor. I read that this component can get overheated when you choose to use the wrong resistor. – Sarah Mans May 8 at 16:14
