Is it to inform, sell, showcase a project, or collect sign-ups? Put it right on the frontpage. <em>Pitch your solution right at the very first moment when we open your website!<\/em> The opening page should make curious and invite to explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Add CTA\u2019s (Call-to-action)<\/strong><br>Trigger the visitor to click important links, or read more. They are often shaped like buttons. Use short and simple action words. It allows you to focus on content, structure, and user experience rather than technical setup. For designers, Wix is a fast way to prototype and publish ideas while learning how real websites are structured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wix Website Tutorial 2026 - Complete Guide for Beginners\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0EjInFSQ5C8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Start a website with Wix<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First thing, when you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register with Wix<\/a>, be aware that &#8211; for a free site- your lastname will be used as the base URL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>https:\/\/lastname.wixsite.com\/projectx<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And your site name as the last part (here &#8220;projectx&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is Wix still free?<\/strong><br>Yes, but you might want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wix.com\/blog\/is-wix-free\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">check out the details<\/a>, as the free version has some limitations (like allowing only 2 editors, advertisements, non-customizable domain name and more).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wix tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content optimization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Write texts that visitors can <strong>scan quickly<\/strong>, not long blocks of text meant to be read line by line. Keep texts short, use clear headings and short introductions, and highlight key points early. You are <strong>not writing a report<\/strong>\u2014if detailed information is necessary, place it in pop-outs, expandable sections (accordions), or on separate appendix pages with downloadable PDFs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Example of an expandable section with more info<\/summary>\n<p>Structure texts so visitors can quickly understand the message without having to read everything. Use short paragraphs, clear headings, and strong introductions to guide the eye and communicate the main points first. Move detailed or background information to expandable sections or separate appendix pages so the main pages stay clear and focused<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Slow websites frustrate users<\/strong>: keep the site lightweight.<br>Optimize images: (use JPEG for photos, PNG\/SVG for graphics, WebPfor modern compression). Minimize animations and avoid excessive plugins. Reduce resolution of images before uploading them. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wix.com\/blog\/wix-image-optimization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luckily, Wix will handle most of this for you.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Improve <strong>User Experience:<\/strong> Add Call to Action (CTA).<br>The website should guide visitors on what to do next (e.g., &#8220;View Prototype,&#8221; &#8220;Download Report,&#8221; &#8220;Contact for Feedback&#8221;).
